(Telegraphic.) P.
Sir Edward Grey to Sir J. Jordan,
Foreign Office, November 9, 1908.
PLEASE refer to your telegram No. 175 [of the 8th instant: Delimitation of Macao]
We approve of steps taken by you. We must not jeopardize our position at Peking out of consideration for Portuguese at Macao.
Further active intervention on our part seems hardly advisable. We leave this, however, to your judgment.
